The rationale for selection of fluidic parameters during nucleus sculpting and segment removal, retained nuclear fragments and the prevention of same, and IOP during phacoemulsification are discussed during this routine phacoemulsification procedure.

After completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to explain the rationale behind the selection of flow/vacuum parameters, analyze the risks associated with IOP elevation, and utilize methods to avoid retention of nuclear fragments
