Surgery Details

Surgery Desciption

A localized posterior subcapsular cataract bears some resemblance to a congenital posterior polar cataract. The usual technique is modified out of concern for a possible pre-existing opening in the posterior capsule. The patient uses Flomax and demonstrates floppy iris syndrome.

Learning Objective

After completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to present methods that facilitate phacoemulsifcation in eyes with a possible pre-existing opening in the posterior capsule.
